With spring just around the corner, I have been pouring over the Spring/Summer 2017 runways from last fall oh-ing and ah-ing over all the fun trends that will be big this season. I decided to pick a few trends that are more wearable for the average person to show you that you can and should totally give trendy pieces a try. Trends don’t have to be something “out there” or scary that you feel you need to shy away from, you can interpret them however you think they best fit you. There is no “right way” to wear something, and I will show you how I interpreted a few of my favorite trends for this season. I will also be incorporating some accessory trends in this post as well because that can be a fun way to test out trendy pieces if you aren’t crazy about trying clothing trends.
Graphic tees were all over the runways with vintage logos, political views, slogans, bands, and other bodies of text. I am all about the graphic tee, I have many of them which I wear a lot of different ways. For this look I wanted to show you how you can take a pair of trouser pants and make them into an everyday outfit. I scored these Banana Republic, cropped, diamond patterned pants at the thrift store for $6.99. I love how they look with this graphic tee I got last year from Ross, my chunky black booties you have seen in numerous other posts which you can check out here, and this awesome statement necklace. Big statement necklaces are making a comeback this season along with long length necklaces.
Off The Shoulder Tops
The 80’s are coming back this season and I must admit that is not one of my favorite decades as far as fashion goes, but one trend I can totally be on board with is the Flashdance inspired off the shoulder look. This could totally be worn with an oversized top or sweater but I wanted to try something a little different. There were also tons and tons of ruffles all over the runways so I happened to find this beautiful White House Black Market, 100% silk top at the thrift store for only $3.50 and it is the perfect combination of those two trends. It is meant to be off both shoulders but I wanted to give this off the shoulder trend a try so I decided to do it with this top and I think it looks cool! That just goes to show you that you don’t have to spend a ton of money on “in the moment” pieces, use a little imagination and you can totally be like those trendy it girls. So for the outfit, I really wanted to keep it feminine since the top was so romantic so I paired it with my mauve pants from my Valentine’s Day Outfit post, some black pumps, and a simple knot bracelet. Simple, dainty bracelets were another big accessory trend; shying away from the bulky baubles this season. I opted for no necklace to really show off the ruffles and neckline.
Well if you saw my Embroidered Denim post, then you already may suspect that I am in love with this trend for spring! I found this awesome emroidered tank at the thrift store for only $2.40 and I have been waiting for the perfect time to wear it. I kept the ruffle trend going with this leather jacket I love and paired those with my frayed hem denim which I DIY’d. I thought my new rose gold sneakers were the perfect addition to this casual look and rose gold is another big accessory trend that I am super excited about. Chokers are hanging around but getting a little big of a change, there was lots of layering and they are more girly and dainty this season so I went that route for my necklaces.
Those were my favorite trends that I think you guys should totally give a try! Be sure to tag me if you post any pictures on social media trying out any trends this season and leave me a comment down below on which trend you are most excited to try!
